Animals

The crown of my animal collection comes first - the rest in no particular order. I work with a mostly on stretched canvas.

This is just a sampler of some of my more recent animal paintings. As you scroll through them remember to keep in mind that I can paint cheap pet portraits.  *Hint, hint*

 My Rainbow Lorikeet.
Painted (mostly) on the grass by the beach front as the kids played nearby.

The White Swan
Has a bit of a Japanese feel to it.

Mark's Duckies
(That's my nephew swimming with his three big cousins.)

Moonlit Swan

Twitch's Portrait
This one is a bit precious. Twitch is my spoiled foster brother and the light of my parents lives. He's the king of the castle and has the run of the house, it was only right that he should have his own portrait done.

Baby Gorilla

The Puffins
Colours and contrast tempted me to paint this piece but the real challenge was painting things out of focus - my inclination is to paint things in minute detail with sharp focus and so I needed to practise painting things with hazy edges.

Anjana The Foster Chimp
There's a beautiful story behind this painting, Anjana and her carer live in the United States training exotic animals to use in Hollywood. Anjana has taken it upon herself to act as foster mother to many of these creatures and has helped rear many cubs of different kinds

Pink and Grey Galahs

Blue Fairy Wren
I started painting this piece the day we got the news of my (great) Uncle Bob's death. I learned a lot about my Nana's extraordinary inner strength during the painting of it and I believe, simple as it is, it's picked up some of that same quiet beauty.
