About

A bit about myself...

I'm a self taught artist and mother of three boys from a little coastal city in Western Australia. I truly am my own worst critic in this painting arena that, I believe, has served me well - it makes me incapable of settling for a half arsed effort and so it's aided my growth as an artist.

I work mostly with acrylics - I'm quite conscious about the longevity of these paintings so I use top quality professional paints and products.

When I get the time off from this parenting gig, if I'm not elbow deep in paint, I dabble with internet marketing, practice my tai chi, remember to feed the cat, update my Facebook status and catch up on sleep. Three boys! Can you blame me?

Take your time and have a flick through the blog, I've set it up so you can find examples of my work quickly and easily via the subjects at the top. I'd love to hear your feedback (constructive criticism incl.) if you'd care to drop a line in a comment box. And if you have any questions, use one of the comments boxes, find me on Facebook or email me at  eliz.nesbitt@gmail.com

Interested in a portrait of your own?
How it works..

Step 1. You send me a photo
And tell me a little bit about what makes the photo so special - this helps me get feel for the image and gives me a little insight into you as well.

It's essential that you love the photo you send to me. That way you'll love the portrait too. I need a quality photo to work with -  nice lighting and a clear, in focus image.

Step 2. We plan
This is were we put our heads together and discuss what you want from your portrait. You may require a canvas larger or smaller than my standard 45x60cm (18x 24 inches). I'll bring you some ideas about cropping, "photoshopping" certain things out of the image or adding them in, monochrome vs colour and background changes.

I may ask for secular photo's if I need more details - the embroidery on a wedding gown or the close up of a child's face.

Step 3. I send you a draft (and some payment info)
This is the skeleton of the portrait that I can then transfer to canvas and begin building on. Once you have approved the draft and made your 50% deposit I can start work right away. This deposit is non refundable - I'm sure you'll understand that I have to cover my expenses. We can adjust and work on the draft until you are 100% committed.

Step 4. The magic happens
I like to allow 2-4wks for each portrait, depending on how busy the month is (eg. the Christmas rush). If you need it in time for a special occasion please let me know in advance so that I can prioritise your piece. I take photo's throughout the painting process and can keep you updated.

Step 5. Payment on Delivery
If you don't love it, you don't buy it.
